tender

Behold the Medium, sterling silver ring and necklace by BloodMilk. These pieces were inspired by Lily Dale, a small town of spiritualists where the living and the departed commune on a daily basis.

Are these the tender and gracious hands of the spiritualist ... or the spirit?

Mourning Rings

We wear rings to honor a marriage, but what happens when death ultimately makes us part? This beautiful solid gold Victorian mourning ring (1882) offered by Things Gone By, is a precious reminder that although a loved one may be gone, devotion remains.

Here's a contemporary ring that could also be worn as mourning jewelry. This locket ring by Good Girls Studio provides a little chamber to keep something precious close to us.

Remember Me Ring

As symbols of devotion, rings are among the most personal and heartfelt forms of jewelry. Rings inscribed with a name or a few meaningful words is a poetic way to honor the "gone but not forgotten." Delias Thompson has created "Secret Poetry Rings", available on Etsy.com.

I think these can work as a lovely modern interpretation of the Victorian Mourning Rings.
